“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Meeting him was unexpected, and she sure wasn’t looking for anyone. From the time they met, she noticed something different about him. Something that reminded her of a familiar individual, herself. The way he cared, listened and showed interest was exactly how she acts when she’s into a man. He found ways to make time for her in spite of their busy schedules instead of excuses. He did the simple things that meant a lot to her. He was consistent even when she gave him a hard time, and never missed an opportunity to make her feel special.
He was different, and she knew it because finally, she met a man whose action matches their words. She was reluctant and had a lot to consider. He had the qualities she’s been looking for, but something was holding her back. Deep down she didn’t want to lose him because she knew that a man like him was hard to come around. She prayed about him because she wanted to make sure that he was the right one. He stuck around, and in the process, they grew a strong friendship.
It took her awhile, but finally, she realized that he was the first man to ever love her with all her flaws. The first man who not only said he loved her but went out of his ways to show it. He called her “la femme de mes rêves” which translates to the woman of my dreams. He was patient and refused to give up on her. He put her on a pedestal and treat her like a queen. He definitely knew what he wanted and proved himself.
God allowed her to trust Him and opened her heart to love once again. In her eyes, he was perfectly imperfect and deserving of her love.
“Open your eyes to the beauty around you, open your mind to the wanders of life, open your heart to those who love you, and always be true to yourself” Maya Angelou
